UN Rights Experts Urge Iran to Halt the Imminent Execution of Juvenile

No to Rouhani, Stop Execution in Iran |
2017) – A group of United Nations human rights experts* has appealed to the Islamic Republic of Iran to immediately halt the execution of juvenile offender Hamid Ahmadi, who is scheduled to be executed by hanging on Saturday, 4 February. This is the third time that Mr. Ahmadi’s execution is scheduled to take place. In the two previous instances, they were halted at the last minute.
Mr. Ahmadi was 17 years old when he was sentenced to death in 2009 for the fatal stabbing in 2008 of a young man during a fight between five boys. The court relied on confessions reportedly obtained under torture and ill-treatment at a police station, where Mr. Admadi was denied access to a lawyer and his family.
The Committee on the Rights of the Child is the body of 18 independent experts that monitors implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child by its State parties. It also monitors the Optional Protocols to the Convention, on involvement of children in armed conflict and on sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography; as well as a third Optional Protocol which will allow individual children to submit complaints regarding specific violations of their rights.

Five young porters, 18-27, lost their lives on January 28 and 30 in the villages of Piranshahr and Sardasht (Iranian Kurdistan) when they got trapped in the freezing storm and avalanche. A number of other porters were injured and at least two of them are in critical conditions.
The shocking death of these youths is but a small part of the Iranian regime's record of corruption and crimes. The clerical regime has plundered the Iranian people's wealth and squandered the country's assets on nuclear projects, and export of terrorism, fundamentalism and war to the region. It has destroyed the country's economy and brought about poverty, unemployment and inflation for
the people of Iran.

So long as the anti-human and anti-Iranian clerical regime rules the country, the people of Iran will experience only oppression. The only way to do away with so much pain and suffering, is the unity of all strata of the Iranian people to topple this medieval and criminal regime.

Democracy in Iran with Maryam Rajavi tomorrow
Many Reasons for Trump to work with the
|
Eight full years of appeasement by the Obama
administration have done nothing to curb the
Iranian regime's hostile behavior and evil
intentions and has resulted in exacerbated
sectarianism across the Middle East region
and the rise of extremist groups such as the
Islamic State.
While proponents of the appeasement policy
have long argued that the only replacement to
their approach would be open military warfare
against Iran, 23 former top United States
government officials beg to differ.
However, as stalwart civil and military
servants of the U.S., some of whom closely
advised Trump during his presidential
campaign, reminded Trump in their letter, a
practical solution is within reach to deal
with the multitude of threats posed by Iran.
This is advice the incoming administration
should take seriously.

West must change its policy towards Iran regime |
West must change its policy towards Iran regime
Dramatic missteps and miscalculations have defined Iran
policy in Europe and the Americas over these past several
years. Indeed, many mistakes that are ongoing to this day
date back to the immediate aftermath of the Iranian
Revolution in 1979. It seems that almost as soon as the
repressive theocratic government came to power, its Western
interlocutors were looking for opportunities to foster
cooperation with that regime and to pursue friendships with
supposed moderate factions within it.
It is long past time for Western governments to change their
Middle East policy. It is long past time for them to cease
pursuing the illusion of Iran’s internal moderation, and to
start investing their political capital in the existing
alternative to the clerical regime. Earlier this month,
former Iranian President Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani died
after spending nearly four decades playing his role as the
focal point of conciliatory Western policies. In his absence,
Western governments now have a clear choice. On one hand, to
continue to invest in a regime that is likely to go even more
hardline now that the leading “pragmatist” is gone. Or, on
the other hand, they can break with a decades-long tradition
of ignoring human rights abuses and marginalizing Iran’s
democratic opposition to finally begin to pursue a better
future both for true Western interests and for the Iranian
people.

Iran's Water Crisis and Expansion of the Country's Uninhabitable Areas

Iran.

Iran's Water Crisis and Expansion of the Country's
Uninhabitable Areas
The joint report by the two European foundations begins with
“ever more lakes and rivers are threatened by drought..
There’s also an increasing reduction in the depth of the
country’s groundwater resources”, and while pointing to the
drying of Lake Urmia, the report adds that “Lake Urmia, the
biggest lake in the Middle East, has lost 12 percent of its
area in recent years. This amount is equal to the area of Lake
Constance (Bodensee) located in Southern Germany which, with
an area of 240 square kilometers, is divided between three
countries of Germany, Switzerland and Austria.”
According to this report, what is referred to as Iran’s
environmental crisis is actually a manmade crisis. The report
says that the main cause of the current crisis is the
indifference and inaction of regime’s officials and incorrect
exploitation of the country’s water resources. On the other
hand, Iran’s too outdated irrigation technique, has caused the
farmers and poor peasants to suffer the most from water
scarcity.”
The Iranian people want a government of the people,
The Iranian government is against the people and must be
overthrown.
Overturn this unjust rule, the people of Iran
